This original negative was scratched and
baked with dirt due to improper storage and mishandling over the years.
By using
a negative cleaner to remove the surface dirt and then applying a scratch
remover solution to the negative, I was able to scan the
negative into the computer at high resolution and then removed all remaining
scratches and dirt with computer imaging software.
Digital Photo Restoration
By scanning the original print into the computer at
high resolution, I was able to paint out the surface
scratches and other flaws using computer imaging software, as well as recreate the missing section .
Darkroom Printing By taking the original negative
and using multi-contrast filters and a negative cleaner in the darkroom, I
was able to get far better
tones and a much cleaner print than the
original.
Digital Colour Correction
By using a variety of colour adjustment tools such
as colour correction, levels,
saturation and contrast, I was able to vivify this already stunning photo.
Photo Manipulation
By using digital editing software I
was able to paint out the light pole and remove the footsteps
in the snow to create a more authentic looking shot.
Plate Glass Negative Restoration This original glass plate negative
had been shattered at some point in time. I first made a contact
print from the negative
in the darkroom and scanned that print into the computer at high
resolution. Using an imaging program I was able to
paint out the cracks, readjust tones & contrast and recreate this very
old photo.
